Drugs. Crime. Miami. Queenpin. Netflix's new offering "Griselda" is a gritty drama laced with a whole lot of adrenaline.
The new limited series featuring Sofía Vergara is a "fictionalized dramatization" influenced by the life and exploits of Griselda Blanco, an ambitious Colombian businesswoman who created one of the most powerful drug cartels in history.
"Set in 1970s-80s Miami, Blanco’s lethal blend of unsuspected savagery and charm helps her expertly navigate between business and family, leading her to become widely known as 'the Godmother'," says Netflix about the series.

Vergara also serves as executive producer. "Narcos" and "Narcos: Mexico" showrunner Eric Newman has created the show alongside "Narcos" director Andrés Baiz, who directs all six episodes.
"Most of the people know of Griselda as the ruthless, violent drug lord that she was," Vergara said about her character. "So, we were very careful not to glorify her in the series. But we also wanted to take time to uncover the deeper story of Griselda, how beyond all odds, a poor uneducated woman from Colombia managed to create a massive, multi-billion dollar empire in a male-dominated industry, in a country that was not her own, through tactics that she devised that were both ingenious and cruel."
However, Vergara iterates that while Griselda broke down barriers, she is not a hero and "should not be idolized."
"What I loved about the project was getting to explore Griselda’s origin story, the making of a monster," added the actor.
Here's what you need to know about the series, including how to watch it.
