Hillary Clinton has had "Kenough" with Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig's Oscar snubs.
The Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences released their nominations on Tuesday, but "Barbie" director Gerwig and star Robbie were left out of their respective categories for best director and best actress. The former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee took to Instagram to express her frustrations.
"Greta and Margot, while it can sting to win the box office but not take home the gold, your millions of fans love you. You're so much more than Kenough. #HillaryBarbie," Clinton captioned the post to her six million followers.
Social media users rejoiced about the former first lady's fiery reaction to this year's most notable Oscar nomination snubs.
Ryan Gosling and America Ferreracriticize Oscars for Margot Robbie, Greta Gerwig
"Honestly, this is almost better than winning an Oscar," actress Ever Carradine commented.
"President Hilary Barbie, please know we feel the same way," one social media user noted. Clinton won the 2016 popular vote against former President Donald Trump by 2 million votes, but ultimately lost her run for the presidency.
"They saved the movie industry during a strike, Margot wore pink for two years, the academy is just trash wrong for not nominating them… if they were George and Mark they would be getting all the awards… smh," comedian Loni Love wrote under the post.
Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera respond to co-star and director snubs
While Gerwig and Robbie received snubs, Ryan Gosling received a nomination for best supporting actor and America Ferrera garnered a best supporting actress nod. In a statement shared with various outlets Tuesday, Gosling responded to the snubs.
"To say that I'm disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement," Gosling said in part.
"I was incredibly disappointed that they weren't nominated," Ferrera told Variety, while adding, "Greta has done just about everything that a director could do to deserve it. Creating this world and taking something that didn’t have inherent value to most people and making it a global phenomenon. It feels disappointing to not see her on that list."
