Jacquie Roar was in need of a musical lifeline on “The Voice,” and the Queen of Country was listening.
Team Gwen singers Roar and BIAS went head-to-head during the second round of Battles on Monday night, performing a fiery duet of “Need a Favor” by Jelly Roll.
Roar impressed coach Gwen Stefani with her vocal prowess and captivating stage presence. “You’re everything,” Stefani said. “You’re beautiful. You have so much confidence. Your voice can do everything.”
But Roar’s voice couldn’t secure her spot on Team Gwen in the end, as Stefani declared BIAS the battle’s winner.
“I want to say thank you, but I also want to say I’m a very hard worker,” Roar said before her exit. “I’m a very hard singer, so somebody hit that button because I’m not leaving this stage.”
The Oregon vocalist’s request was granted when coach Reba McEntire hit her steal button, making Roar a member of Team Reba.
“You don’t usually see a person that got a four-chair turn up for a steal, so I was really thrilled about that,” McEntire said.
Here’s what else went down on Monday’s episode.
Niall Horan says Olivia Eden elimination will ‘break my heart for a long time’
Team Niall singers Olivia Eden and Julia Roome melted the coaches’ hearts with their youthful spunk and sweet rendition of “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer.
Eden’s unique vocal style was a standout for Stefani.
“You have a very rare tone,” Stefani told the 15-year-old singer. “You’re so original with your sound.”
Meanwhile, coach Niall Horan was floored by Roome’s maturity as a vocalist. “To be 13 years old, like, I learned how to tie my shoes at 16,” Horan joked. “The control, the etherealness, there’s a real drama to it.”
Roome’s old-soul magic won out, with Horan choosing her as the battle’s winner. However, the elimination of Eden from the competition weighed on Horan.
“That was so tough to see Olivia go. It’s going to break my heart for a long time,” Horan said. “But I know for a fact with that tone and that personality, she’s going to have a very bright future.”
Gwen Stefani beats Niall Horan in stealing Team Reba singer CORii
Ms. Monét and CORii of Team Reba electrified the stage with their powerhouse performance of “New Attitude” by Patti LaBelle. CORii’s strong vocal delivery and growth as a contestant blew Horan away.
“Why did not I turn (for you)?” Horan asked the 32-year-old singer. “I do remember pitch issues in the blind auditions, but this was night and day – different level – to where you were the last time.”
Ms. Monét’s “swaggy” showmanship charmed Stefani. “I’m so blown away by you,” Stefani said. “You are masterful.”
The California vocalist also mastered the Battles round, as Ms. Monét won her matchup against CORii.
But the show wasn’t over for CORii just yet. Stefani and Horan both hit their steal buttons for a chance to work with the New Jersey singer.

“You’ve got so much charisma,” Stefani said. “How do you tame it just a little bit so that you can be that much cooler and that much more you? I want to work with that.”
Turns out CORii wants to work with Stefani, too. She chose to join Team Gwen.
“Gwen Stefani is turning out to be very, very hard to pitch against,” Horan said. “Good luck, CORii. Can’t help you now.”
